Looks are Deceiving
Humbert is an intelligent literary artist who is a handsome and charming Frenchman. However, he is also a child-obsessed monster who falls in love with a 12-year-old. He fools almost all other adult characters into thinking he is a normal man with normal sexual tendencies. Lolita portrays an innocent, playful girl. At the age of 14, she had an IQ of 121, much higher than her peers at Beardsley School.
Language is PowerNabakov uses the power of language to keep his audience engaged in Lolita. Many readers would turn down this novel because of its disgusting protagonist and antagonist. His choice of artistic words forces the reader to question their morals. Nabakov never swears to strengthen the bond between Humbert and his audience.
